Support the Dharma, Nurture Compassion
Your offering helps sustain the daily life and practice of over forty devoted monks at Dhonggar Palri Monastery. Every contribution preserves sacred traditions, supports pujas, and ensures the Dharma continues to flourish for generations to come.
Dhonggar Palri Monastery is currently home to over forty monks, many of whom are highly accomplished Dharma practitioners. All residents live and practice here at no cost, dedicating their lives fully to the Dharma. The monastery provides food, shelter, and the conditions necessary for practice, though no personal allowances are given.
It costs approximately 38 RMB per monk per day to provide meals alone, not including the monastery’s other daily needs. These include transportation for groceries and supplies, the disposal of waste from the mountain, and regular water and electricity bills required to maintain such a vast site.
The monastery also carries the full responsibility of hosting major pujas (prayer ceremonies) and gatherings throughout the year. These events are occasions of great merit where Dharma masters preach Buddhist scriptures, offering alms to the Buddha and monks, praying for blessings, or praying for the deceased—aiming to accumulate merit and liberate sentient beings through collective chanting and debate. During these times, the monastery feeds every participant and offers donations to the attending masters, all at its own expense. Sacred pujas such as Sampa Lhündrub Tsokbum, Sayi Nyingpo Drubchö, Lhama Norlha, and Dorje Drolo among many others are especially elaborate, and while spiritually invaluable, they bring additional financial responsibility.
Looking ahead, Dhonggar Palri Monastery envisions further expansion to deepen and broaden its service to the Dharma and all beings:
As a non-profit foundation, Dhonggar Palri Monastery relies entirely on the generosity of its supporters. Every contribution is received with heartfelt gratitude and used with mindfulness. Whether to sustain the monastery’s daily expenses, host pujas, offer alms to the local community, conduct life-release ceremonies, acquire sacred statues, or support future expansions—all donations are dedicated wholly to benefit sentient beings. Nothing is spent in excess; each offering strengthens the monastery’s capacity to spread the Dharma and extend its compassionate activity in the world.
Your offering, no matter its size, becomes part of the shared work of liberation—supporting those who dedicate their lives to freeing others from suffering while also planting the seeds of virtue and merit on your own path to awakening. In giving, one participates in the timeless cycle of generosity that upholds the Dharma and brings benefit to all beings, ensuring the Buddha’s light continues to shine and guide countless beings toward ultimate freedom.
